VOYAGE HOUSTON MAGAZINE INTERVIEW

I recently received an email from a local magazine, Voyage Houston, asking if they could interview me about being an artistic business owner based in this wonderful city. I am so honored that I was asked to contribute. Below is the original article link & interview.

Voyage Houston Magazine Interview regarding being a Houston Wedding & Brand Photographer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Gosch.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.

I was always the kid with disposable cameras. Picking up that flimsy paper envelope with 24 exposures was always something I looked forward to. That translated to being the teenager in high school photojournalism class, either always photographing or in the dark room developing those photos. That then translated to being a mom photographing her first born and watching this love for photography bloom and extend to others. After a few years of shooting digital photography & shooting many genres, I honed in on shooting weddings + creative businesses while switching back to my first photographic medium, film. Ever since, I feel as if my photographic voice has become clear and concise.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

I feel like there have been times during my career where I tried to force things that shouldn’t have been happening for me. Learning who I am as a person has really helped steer my business journey. When there are opportunities that pop up that are truly meant for me as a person and as an artist, things seem to fall organically into place. I’m grateful to be at a point where I can determine if a project is meant for my vision pretty easily by trusting my gut.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Christine Gosch – what should we know?

I’m a photographer based in Houston shooting weddings & creative businesses/artists.

I’m known for shooting film with a minimal and delicate style. I’m proud of the quality experience & expertise I provide clients, helping to guide them through their journey of working with me. I believe my discerning eye for detail, styling abilities to elevate a session or wedding, and laid back demeanor while working with clients help to set me apart from others.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?

I feel like the art of restraint & the quality of simplicity has helped my business. As a business owner, it’s so easy to get carried away with things like complex pricing structures or flashy website design, but I’ve found those things to be a distraction from my work and the experience I want my clients to have.
