Boy oh boy, what a crazy year. Lots of growth, change, and learning! This was the year I decided to take on weddings by referral only, and drastically decrease the amount of weddings I accepted in order to spend more weekends at home with my family. One of the best decisions for me for multiple reasons! I shot 4 weddings this year (and will shoot one more before 2019 is over) and that’s proven to be my sweet spot! I’ve really enjoyed taking on less weddings to assure that the ones that I do book are the ones that are the best fit, and that I’m truly able to give 110% of my focus to each of my couples.

I’m leaning much more into portrait work on this front and it’s been a great and seamless transition! After all, shooting portraits of people I know is how I (and most photographers I know) got into photography, so in a way I’m almost going back to my roots. I hope to shoot much more lifestyle + portrait work as 2020 begins. Some of the kinds of portrait and lifestyle work I’m interested in are: in-home lifestyle sessions (for an individual or family), home tours or cooking sessions, family sessions, maternity sessions, newborn lifestyle, beauty + boudoir portraits, or couples portraits. You can check out all of my new and updated galleries in the menu.

I stayed pretty local this year, shooting mostly in Houston, Austin, and Galveston, Texas. I love these locations so much and hope to shoot plenty more here in 2020. If you’re in the market for photos, let’s get the ball rolling- shoot me a message!

Per usual, you get a gold start for reading all of this. Thanks for sticking around this year, and I can’t wait to see you back here in 2020!

BLACKWOOD LIVING ELOPEMENT INSPIRATION

A farm and wedding venue in the Houston area that has recently been put on my radar is Blackwood Living. They offer indoor and outdoor ceremony options, have an amazing on-site caterer that uses fresh ingredients from the farm to cater your wedding (talk about a true farm to table experience for your guests!), and a hall suitable for an indoor reception. The farm is located in Hempstead, Texas and they even offer overnight accommodations if you wanted to stay there instead of driving to or from the venue.

This shoot was so unique in style and had me wishing I was attending as a guest! I would love to sit at a candle-lit table like this one and dine in this intimate setting. Using fresh blackberries from the farm as inspiration for the color palette, Elizabeth of The Petaler: Floral + Events Co utilized blackberries and darker red tones for the flowers and table scape. Using that same inspiration, Rachel of Half Moon Lettering illustrated and designed a beautiful wedding invitation suite for the day.

Shreeda + Jay are just so loving and playful with one another. They have the best style and being sweet with each other in front of the camera just came so naturally to them. Shreeda is a Houston makeup artist and she did her own hair and makeup for the day. It looked so effortless and dewey, a perfect fit for the rainy day at Blackwood Living. It was an honor to photograph them!

Thanks for reading to the bottom, you get a gold star!
