Happy Monday, all! Today we’re talking about anniversary sessions! They are so special. I love when two folks that have been married for awhile decide to invest in a photo session to capture this time in their lives. So many people get married and don’t appear in a professional photo again until their kid’s wedding! But I think that in this day and age of constant connection via the internet/ social media and phones with wildly awesome cameras, being photographed more is expected. I just get so excited when I get an inquiry for an anniversary session.

This was was no exception. In fact, I might even say I did a little happy dance when I noticed who this anniversary session inquiry was from- one of my favorite Texas calligraphers + wedding invitation designers LaRue Pulido, owner of Little Carabao Studio. If you don’t follow her on Instagram, hop on over and check her out to start working pretty calligraphy and paper suites into your feed. You won’t regret it!

LaRue and I were working on another project together when I had mentioned to her in an email that I would be in Austin, Texas for an engagement session with another couple. LaRue + Trent were celebrating their 5 year wedding anniversary around the time I would be in Austin and wanted to book a mini session (did you know I offer mini sessions? Well, I do. Same beautiful photos for a fraction of the cost). So it was meant to be! We met at one of my favorite parks to shoot at in Austin, Bull Creek Park. I’m always so grateful when I get to work at an Austin park because where I live, we don’t get anything like the scenery in the Texas Hill Country like waterfalls and natural springs. We met up just after sunrise. No one was there, the weather was awesome, and everything was so serene and beautiful. Their mini shoot was so great and I’m so glad LaRue and I were finally able to meet in person. I’m so excited to finally share these with you!

LAGUNA GLORIA WEDDING IDEAS

If you’re in the early stages of wedding planning and are looking for a wedding venue in Texas with serious destination wedding vibes, look no further than Laguna Gloria. Nestled into the Austin hillside with a direct view of the Colorado River, the Italian style villa was built in 1916 as a private home for Clara Driscoll (who, upon research, I discovered funded the preservation of the Alamo- so she’s alright in my book). Laguna Gloria has since been an Art Museum & art exhibition space. Every corner of this venue was filled with raw texture, luminous light, and a festive atmosphere.

This shoot was designed to highlight the talent of local wedding vendors who have an appreciation for European wedding style. Our bride and groom, Keelyn + Connor, were the perfect couple for this shoot. Some of my favorite details were the bridal getting ready details such as the bride’s grandmother’s jewelry, a bridal hair accessory by Erin Rhyne, Keelyn’s mother’s perfume she wore on her wedding day, and some fabulous Bella Belle shoes. My heart also felt particularly drawn to the Connor’s amazing details (like his pale blue suite, italian leather boots, and boutonniere by Flint & Pearl), flawless hair and makeup by Sunkissed and Made Up (helloooooo freckles and brows!), and the perfectly stuccoed cake with whispy peach & pale blue frosting with gold foil flakes by Feathers and Frosting.

We were so blessed with the perfect weather this day, and a storm rolled in shortly after we left the venue. I’m so grateful for this experience with this team.
