SUMMER LOVING
One of my favorite places on the planet is Galveston, Texas. I love it so very much, especially during the summer, and it holds a very special piece of my heart. There’s so much history, beauty, and entertainment in Galveston. My high school sweetheart-turned-husband and I used to go to the island to go to the beach all the time when we were dating in high school, so it’s also very nostalgic to me. And now that we’re grown with our own cars and incomes and lives, we can hit up LaKing’s and Big Daddy’s Gumbo Bar any old time we want. Seriously, if you haven’t had the pleasure of supporting these local eateries, I highly recommend you pay them a visit next time you’re in Galveston.
You can imagine how excited I was when Carlee mentioned that she lived in Galveston and wanted to shoot her engagement session there. Some of my favorite places to shoot on the island are on The Strand, the seawall, and obviously the actual beach.
Carlee & I have known each other for a little over 12 years. We actually used to play volleyball together in junior high and high school, and she has since become a labor and delivery nurse. Oh, and obviously gotten engaged to Thomas, too! It's funny because I knew him before this shoot, as well, through a mutual friend, so my time spent with Carlee and Thomas was so fun. There was much catching up to do! And I’m fairly certain I laughed more with them than I have any other time this year. They’re friggin’ hilarious. Sessions usually last an hour, but this one probably went over by half an hour because we couldn’t actually stop laughing.
And just like any amazing engagement session, we ended up at Big Daddy’s Gumbo Bar for gumbo and beer. Just another fun memory to add to the Galveston files.
