SIMPLE SPRINGTIME WEDDING
Hodge Podge Lodge Wedding Venue
One of my favorite things about these two are their witty conversations & quick, sarcastic comebacks seriously everytime they talked. So hilarious. They also have a deep appreciation and love for their family, another reason why I really connected with these two. Zach & Sarah wanted a simple, small wedding so they could enjoy real time with their family (who all traveled in from out of town) and closest friends.
Zach & Sarah’s Montgomery, Texas wedding venue, Hodge Podge Lodge, was definitely a favorite. Some of my favorite things about the venue were the great light reflected throughout the house by means of lots of white walls, rooms for family members to stay in the night before the wedding, spacious getting ready rooms (and one crazy beautiful bathroom in the bridal suite), and picturesque antique decor within the old home which was built in 1854.
Although I’m a Houston wedding photographer (where weddings can be known for lots of country influence), I prefer more of a classic inspired, minimal wedding over Texas/ country weddings. This venue makes it very easy to lean in the direction of the latter, but Sarah’s classy BHLDN dress, simplistic color palette, and traditional style made this wedding less western and more timeless.
Their intimate wedding was perfect and so catered to them. Sarah is a science teacher, so their guestbook was a periodic table of the elements. Their reception included lots of Texas country music from Waylon Jennings, one of Zach’s favorites. Their guest count was about 30 and there were only 2 people in the wedding party. I was as happy photographing their big day as Zach is walking into his wedding reception (last photo in the blog post). Small, intimate weddings are my absolute favorite and this wedding set the bar pretty high for my expectations of weddings to come!
